Using food as pest control
There are many different types of bugs that can infest a home. They are all
bothersome and nobody wants them around. Many people, though, hesitate to use harmful chemicals in their home
or not have the money to spend on expensive treatments. The good news is that most people already have bug
fighting products in their home that are safe. It is, perhaps, the most unexpected source for fighting bugs,
but food can be pout to great use and rid your home of bugs.
It is true that food is often the reason pests come inside, but some foods actually work to repel pests.
There are certain food products that pests can not stand to be around and if you know how to use them you could
save yourself a lot of money in pest control. The following list explains some common kitchen concoctions you
can use to fight the pest invasion in your home.
- Mint. It can be used in almost any form. Place it wherever you have pests like
mice or ants. An added bonus is the nice smell it will add to your kitchen.
- Hot sauce. Mixed half and half with water and squirted around cabinets or anywhere
you notice cockroaches. It gets them gone in an instant.
- Cloves. Clove are an excellent repellent to place around to keep ants far away.
- Lemon. Pour boiling water on sliced lemons and let it sit overnight. The next
day spray the mixture around to get fleas out of your home. It is safe to use on your pets and around the
family. Lemon peels are also a great moth deterrent. Just place them in closets.
These are only a few of the many home remedies to get rid of pests. People are always experimenting and
coming up with new ideas. You may even find yourself thinking up a few food pest repellents.
